Kelli Mosteller (Citizen Potawatomi Nation) serves at the Executive Director of First Americans Museum. She manages the day-to-day operations of the museum that serves to educate the public about the unique cultures, diversity, history, contributions, and resilience of the 39 First American Nations in Oklahoma today. She also oversees key initiatives including the FAMily Discovery Center, the restoration of the museum’s iconic Mound, and 39 Restaurant, which highlights Indigenous cuisine from across Turtle Island. She is deeply committed to fostering strong relationships with Tribal Nation partners, donors, and members to support the museum’s mission and long-term impact. Dr. Mosteller holds a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Texas at Austin, with a focus on Indigenous studies.
She previously served as the Executive Director of the Harvard University Native American Program, where she worked closely with students, faculty, and staff to foster the well-being of Indigenous peoples at the University and beyond. Under her tenure, HUNAP expanded programming that advances education and scholarship, and opportunities that strengthen the Indigenous community at Harvard.
She also served her own Nation for over a decade as Executive Director of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Cultural Heritage Center where she oversaw the museum, archives, oral history project, and gift shop. At Citizen Potawatomi Nation she was also the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO), the NAGPRA Coordinator, and a Gaming Commissioner. Her most cherished role is Auntie to the eagles at the CPN Eagle Aviary.
