Christine Pappas

Christine Pappas is Professor of Political Science and Chair of the Department of Politics, Law, and Society at East Central University (ECU) in Ada, where she also serves as Policy and Education Coordinator for The Oka’ Institute. She serves as Vice Chair of Oklahoma Indian Legal Services Advisory Board and assists with ECU’s Native American Legal Clinic. She has taught and published on Native American Water Rights, Tribal Politics, and Native American Law, including the book chapter (with Jacintha Webster) “Modern Sequoyah: Native American Power in Oklahoma.” As Director of the Water Resource Policy and Management Master of Science Degree, she has worked with students from many tribal nations regarding how to increase tribal sovereignty through protecting water rights. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from University of Nebraska and a juris doctorate from University of Nebraska College of Law.
