Gregory D. Smith is a Native American Tribal Supreme Court Justice on eight (8) tribal appellate courts in five (5) different states. He teaches Federal Indian Law at the Lincoln Memorial University School of Law in Knoxville, TN. Mr. Smith also presides over a municipal court in Tennessee and was selected as Tennessee Municipal Court Judge of the Year in 2017. In April of 2026, he testified before the U.S. Sentencing Commission (USSC) on behalf of the Tribal Issues Advisory Group (TIAG), a standing committee for the USSC regarding pending changes to the federal sentencing guidelines and how those changes may impact Native American communities.
