Matthew L. Morgan

Matthew L. Morgan (Chickasaw/Choctaw) serves as the Special Envoy for the Chickasaw Nation, representing the Nation in diplomatic capacity to federal, state, tribal, and local officials. He also holds several leadership positions: Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association; Board Member for Global Gaming Solutions, LLC; Chairman of the Chickasaw Tax Commission; Chairman of the Chickasaw Public Defender Board; Associate Justice for the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Appellate Court; Eastern Oklahoma Board Delegate for the Indian Gaming Association; Board Member for the Oklahoma Academy; and member of Leadership Oklahoma Class 38.

Throughout his extensive 25+ year tenure with the Chickasaw Nation, Mr. Morgan has held key positions including Executive Officer/General Counsel for Governmental Affairs & Partnerships, Director of Gaming Affairs, two-term Gaming Commissioner, General Counsel for the Office of the Gaming Commissioner, and Associate General Counsel for the Nation. His additional professional contributions encompass serving as spokesperson for United For Oklahoma, membership on the 2011 National Indian Gaming Commission’s Technical/MICS Tribal Advisory Committee, Co-Chairmanship of the Tribal Gaming Working Group (2006-2011), Board service with the Chickasaw Historical Society, participation in the Chickasaw Dance Troupe, and membership on the Chickasaw Repatriation Committee.

Mr. Morgan earned both his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and his Bachelor of Business Administration from the Price School of Business. He lives on the Chickasaw Nation Reservation with his wife, Shannon Morgan, and they are the proud parents of four children.
